    Student of the Year Award

    Each school’s Student Affairs dean’s office will identify a “champion” to help prepare the nomination materials for their student. The champion should be sure to address the award criteria, which includes the student’s leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to UMB’s Core Values.

    What to Submit:

    1. Nomination Letter from a Student Affairs Dean
      This letter should communicate highlights regarding the student and their accomplishments, including:
      • Leadership and impact in formal or informal roles within the School, University, and/or community
      • Academic excellence (e.g., research, honors, certifications, continuing education, presentations, publications, or involvement in professional organizations)
      • How the student has advanced at least two of UMB’s Core Values:
        • Respect and Integrity
        • Well-being and Sustainability
        • Equity and Justice
        • Innovation and Discovery
    2. Additional Letter of Recommendation
      This letter should address the following regarding the student:
      1. Leadership and impact within the school, University, and/or community
      2. Advancement of at least two of UMB’s Core Values:
        • Respect and Integrity
        • Well-being and Sustainability
        • Equity and Justice
        • Innovation and Discovery
      3. A copy of the student’s résumé or CV.

    Deadline for Submissions:
    All Student of the Year nominations must be submitted by Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The student’s Student Affairs Dean should UPLOAD both letters as part of their submission.
