Douglas Dows is an instructional designer and educator with over a decade of experience creating engaging, accessible, and inclusive learning experiences. With a Master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Full Sail University, Douglas specializes in designing active-learning environments that spark curiosity and help learners grow. His work is guided by ADDIE, Understanding by Design (UbD), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), ensuring that every learning solution is effective, inclusive, and adaptable.
Douglas is passionate about harnessing technology and evidence-based pedagogy to meet the diverse needs of learners. His commitment to continuous improvement is evident in his ongoing pursuit of professional development, data-driven decision-making, and learner-centered feedback.
Douglas joined the UMB in 2025 as part of the instructional design team within the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning (FCTL). Before this role, he taught and designed curriculum at the Baltimore Lab School, Howard County Public Schools, York Prep in New York City, and the School District of Philadelphia, where he specialized in inclusive, accessible, and technology-driven instruction.
