Branding Guidelines for Student Fundraisers
Student groups interested in using the UMB logo for fundraising merchandise first must submit designs to their school’s communications office or to OCPA at branding@umaryland.edu.
Key guidelines include:
- Acceptable naming includes “University of Maryland School of [Discipline]” or “UM School of [Discipline].” (e.g., University of Maryland School of Dentistry; UM School of Pharmacy)
- Phrases such as “Maryland Dental,” “UMB Nursing,” or “Maryland Law School” are not permitted.
- Use of the school logo is optional, but if used, it must follow brand guidelines and remain unaltered.
- Spelling out “University of Maryland, Baltimore” must include the comma between “Maryland” and “Baltimore.”
- The official University seal is not permitted on any merchandise.
- Any custom artwork must be separate from the University name or logo.
- The UMB columns, or “Davidge mark,” may only be used as part of the official logo.
