Why shouldn’t I bring my own cleaning products to use on campus?

It is recommended that you do not bring your own cleaning products to campus.

The products identified for use in the Point-of-Use Cleaning kits have been reviewed by UMB Environmental Health and Safety as well as Environmental Services to ensure that the products meet Environmental Protection Agency/Centers for Disease Control and  Prevention guidelines, and campus safety standards. 

• Certain cleaning products can damage surfaces and are not recommended. 
• Certain cleaning products have vapors that can cause irritation and are not recommended. 
• Appropriate PPE that needs to meet campus safety standards is required for specific cleaning products.
• Counterfeit and recalled products are sold, especially online, that are not effective against COVID-19.
