UMB 2025 Honorary Degree Recipient: Robert Morris, DDS ’69, MPH, FICD
Robert Morris received UMB’s 2025 Honorary Doctor of Public Service in May for his extraordinary global impact in dentistry and public health.
From co-founding a home for children affected by HIV in Vietnam to rebuilding dental programs in Kuwait after being held hostage during the Gulf War, Morris and his five-decade career are defined by courage, compassion, and service.
Now in his 80s, he continues to inspire with his lifelong commitment to health equity and education. Read more about Dr. Morris’ remarkable journey and how UMB is honoring his legacy of global service, resilience, and compassion.
UMB 2025 Honorary Degree Recipient: Ronald Chisom
Ronald Chisom, co-founder of the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, received UMB’s Honorary Doctor of Public Service in May in recognition of over 60 years of tireless social justice work.
His work includes groundbreaking tenant organizing in New Orleans, a landmark 1984 lawsuit that led to Louisiana’s first Black Supreme Court justice, and global racial equity training that has reached more than 2 million people.
