Registration for UMB's New Student Orientation

  1. Most new students will be registered for a UMB New Student Orientation session by their School/Program. However, some Schools/Programs will ask students to register for an orientation session. Registration information is noted under the Schools and programs listed below.  
  2. New students who are online learners, or primarily studying at an off-campus location, such as Shady Grove, are encouraged to attend a virtual orientation session.    
  3. Click on your UMB School below to view the new student orientation dates for your School or program. 
    • If you are unable to attend your designated orientation date, you are welcome to join another orientation date.  
  4. All in-person sessions will occur in the SMC Campus Center except for one, see below for additional details. Students attending a virtual orientation should register for the Zoom meeting for their School/program listed below.

Students enrolled in on campus programs have been automatically registered by their School, and do not need to register individually. 

Postgraduate Dental:

  • Tuesday, July 1

Doctor of Dental Surgery:

  • Friday, August 15, 1 - 3 p.m.

Dental Hygiene:

  • Friday, August 15, 1 - 3 p.m.

On Campus Programs:

  • Tuesday, August 19, 2 - 4 p.m.
    Students enrolled in on campus programs have been automatically registered by their School, and do not need to register individually. 

Hybrid, Online, or Shady Grove Programs:

  • Thursday, August 21, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

    This orientation is virtual (Zoom) and features resources applicable to online learners or students who are primarily studying at off campus locations, such as Shady Grove.

 

Juris Doctor Program:

  • Wednesday, August 20, 12:15 - 1:30 p.m., in the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law

Juris Doctor (JD) Evening Programs:

  • Thursday, August 21, 5:30 - 6:15 p.m.

    This orientation is virtual (Zoom) and features resources applicable to students who are studying online and in the evening on the UMB campus. 

Students enrolled in on-campus programs have been automatically registered by their School, and do not need to register individually.

  • Tuesday, July 22, 10 a.m. – Noon (in-person in Baltimore) 
  • Thursday, July 24, 6 - 8 p.m. (virtual - register on Zoom
  • Monday, August 11, 6 - 8 p.m. (virtual - register on Zoom
  • Friday, August 15, 1 – 3 p.m. (in-person in Baltimore) 

The virtual (Zoom) orientation session will begin by featuring resources applicable to online learners or students who are studying at an off campus location, such as Shady Grove. Students studying in Baltimore can learn more about resources available to students studying at the Baltimore campus after the formal presentation concludes.
