I am honored to submit my nomination for the University of Maryland Staff Senate. With 24 years of dedicated service to this institution, I bring a deep understanding of our community’s needs and a strong commitment to supporting staff across all levels. Throughout my career, I have consistently demonstrated leadership, provided thoughtful guidance, and worked to foster a professional and collaborative environment. Colleagues often describe me as helpful, approachable, and solutions-oriented; qualities I believe are essential for representing staff effectively. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute my experience and passion to the Staff Senate and to continue advocating for a positive and inclusive workplace.
2. Why are you interested in serving on the Staff Senate?
I am interested in serving on the Staff Senate because I am deeply committed to supporting and uplifting our staff community. Over the past 24 years, I have witnessed the evolution of our campus and the critical role that staff play in driving the university’s mission forward. I believe the Staff Senate is a powerful platform to give voice to staff concerns, promote positive change, and strengthen communication between staff and leadership. With my experience, professionalism, and dedication to helping others, I am eager to contribute to initiatives that enhance our work environment, recognize staff achievements, and ensure that all voices are heard and valued. Serving on the Staff Senate would be both an honor and a meaningful opportunity to give back to the university that has been my professional home for over two decades.
3. What do you hope to accomplish during your term?
During my term, I hope to be a strong advocate for staff development, equity, and engagement. My primary goal is to help create a more inclusive and supportive work environment where staff voices are heard, valued, and acted upon. I would like to focus on initiatives that enhance professional growth opportunities, improve communication across departments, and recognize the vital contributions staff make every day. Drawing from my 24 years of service and guidance experience, I also aim to promote transparency and collaboration between staff and university leadership. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to lasting improvements that benefit both individual staff members and the broader UMB community.
4. Describe your hobbies and interests outside of work.
Outside of work, I enjoy giving back to my community through volunteer service, especially when it involves supporting youth. I am proud to serve as a board member for the Office of Catholic Ministries, where I help guide outreach initiatives and programs that make a positive impact. I also actively volunteer wherever needed in various church activities, finding fulfillment in being of service and staying connected to my faith community. In my downtime, I love watching action movies, going bowling with friends and family, and exploring new places through travel. These hobbies keep me balanced, energized, and continually inspired both personally and professionally.
