Results From the 2022 Maryland Charity Campaign

President Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACSDear Colleagues:

I am pleased to share with you the final results of the Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC), Maryland’s workplace charitable giving program, which took place this past October through Dec. 31, 2022.

This year’s MCC theme was Mountain to Shore – Maryland Strong, and the results show that the theme resonated with many generous donors. State employees and retirees raised over $1.9 million. Of that, UMB raised close to $140,000 from our talented faculty, staff, and retirees.

I extend my sincere appreciation to all who donated to the causes they care about. A substantial number of nonprofits will benefit from your philanthropic contributions.

I’d like to commend UMB’s 2022 MCC co-chairs, Peter Murray, PhD, CAS, MS, senior vice president for information technology and chief information officer, and recently retired M.J. Tooey, MLS, AHIP, FMLA, former associate vice provost and dean of the Health Sciences and Human Services Library, for their leadership and support of this annual statewide campaign. I’d also like to thank UMB’s MCC liaisons, Lisa Vuolo, executive director of leadership and annual giving, Office of Philanthropy, and Bill Crockett, MS, RCRSP, executive director, Division of Student Affairs. Their combined efforts were critical to our continued success.

Thank you for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Signature of Bruce E. Jarrell
