Branding Guidelines for Student Fundraisers
If your student group wants to use the UMB logo for fundraising merchandise, your designs must first be submitted for approval. You can submit your designs to your school’s communications office or directly to OCPA at branding@umaryland.edu.
Following these guidelines will help ensure your merchandise meets University branding standards and avoids delays in approval.
Naming Guidelines
- Use the official format:
- “University of Maryland School of [Discipline]” or
- “UM School of [Discipline]”
- (e.g., University of Maryland School of Dentistry; UM School of Pharmacy)
- Avoid unofficial phrases such as:
- “Maryland Dental”
- “UMB Nursing”
- “Maryland Law School”
Logo and Artwork Guidelines
- Using the school logo is optional. If included, it must follow brand guidelines and remain unaltered.
- Any custom artwork must be separate from the University name or logo.
- The UMB columns (“Davidge mark”) may only be used as part of the official logo.
- The official University seal is not permitted on merchandise.
Spelling and Formatting
Always spell out “University of Maryland, Baltimore” with a comma between “Maryland” and “Baltimore.”
