UMB Foundation

The University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Inc. (the “Foundation” or “UMBF”) was established in 2000 as a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, allowing donors to make tax-deductible contributions to enhance the vision and priorities of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) and its schools and programs.

As an essential partner to UMB and its philanthropic endeavors, the Foundation is the gift management arm — receiving gifts and other appropriate assets for UMB’s benefit, ensuring that gifts are used in accordance with donor intent, and providing prudent management of the assets as fiduciary.

The Foundation’s administrative services team is responsible for compliant gift acceptance, tax receipting of charitable contributions, donor relations, financial reporting, expenditures, and management of operating and endowment funds. These activities are carried out with strict compliance to federal and regulatory requirements, accepted financial and accounting standards, University System of Maryland Policy on Affiliation Philanthropic Support Foundations, UMB guidelines, and industry best practices.
