New Graduates Speak Out

Vi Luong, School of Pharmacy, PharmD

Vi-LuongUMB’s mission is to improve the human condition and serve the public good. How do you plan to do that as a new graduate?

“I’m excited to start working in pharmacy. When you’re serving in the community you make sure you have that patient interaction. You talk to them and listen to them. The most important thing is also understanding what disease they are coping with and trying to prevent that disease. So having that patient interaction and making a difference with one patient at a time.”

Has coming to UMB exceeded your expectations? If so, how?

“Of course, I think at the University of Maryland you have an outstanding staff. They’re very supportive. I feel like in the University of Maryland we’re always making sure we’re up to date and being current with practice. Coming to UMB I know becoming a life learner is a very important thing. I’m glad I came here because the staff and the faculty have been supportive and pushed me to make sure I’m always on top of my game.”
