Overview:

The Career Readiness micro-course provides a cohort-based opportunity to learn the essentials of career development, such as resume and cover letter writing, virtual and in-person interviewing, LinkedIn and digital branding, and professional networking. This micro-course will see individuals expand their career opportunities through applied learning, mock interviews, resume and cover letter critiques, and career tips and tricks provided by UMB’s leadership. This program is free for all UMB students and employees. Enrolled participants should expect the course to take 4-8 hours total, including watching videos, reading articles, engaging in video-based discussion boards, and completing learning quizzes. Modules will be opened semi-weekly and require that participants stay on track with the cohort. Individuals who complete this free course will receive a digital certificate, online micro-credential, and digital badge to place on their LinkedIn profile.

  1. How to write a strong cover letter
  2. The differences between a resume and curriculum vitae and how to create a strong resume/cv
  3. How to network online, use LinkedIn, and monitor your online brand
  4. How to conduct a strong interview and how to excel during a virtual interview
 

Report a Bias-Related Incident

Any member of the University community can make a report about an act of bias or discrimination.

Acts of bias or discrimination refer to language and/or behaviors that demonstrate bias against persons because of, but not limited to, actual or perceived: ability, color, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, national origin, race, religion, and/or sexual orientation.

Examples may include defacement of posters or signs, comments or messages, jokes or humor, vandalism to personal or university property, deliberate exclusion from activities, or similar acts, if there is evidence that the target of the incident was chosen because of a characteristic such as those listed above.
