What are the current CDC requirements for international students and scholars seeking to enter the U.S.?

November 8, 2021 (updated June 13, 2022)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requires documentation of COVID-19 vaccination for all individuals seeking (re)entry to the United States on a temporary visa to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The CDC considers individuals to be fully vaccinated when 14 days has passed since the approved COVID-19 vaccine series was completed. Vaccines that are authorized for emergency use by the FDA or the WHO are approved by the CDC for this purpose. The list of eligible vaccines can be found on the CDC website.

There are very limited exceptions to the vaccine requirement. Please review the CDC website for all details concerning the exceptions.
