School of Medicine

The University began in 1807 with the founding of the nation's fifth medical school.  Biomedical research activity has expanded dramatically in the last decade; the School is now among the top public medical schools in NIH research awards.  In Fiscal Year 2009 faculty garnered $440.1 million in grant and contract support.  The School is leading efforts to attract underrepresented minorities to medical careers.
