Schools and Programs

The University of Maryland, Baltimore was established in 1807 and is the founding campus of the University System of Maryland. UMB is the state's public academic health and law university and is composed of six professional schools and a Graduate School. The 2005 edition of the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education identifies UMB as Special Focus Institution - Medical Schools and Medical Centers based on degree granting activity and specialization.
