Becky Ceraul | Assistant Dean for Communications and Marketing | School of Pharmacy | UMB Donor for 10 years

“Not everyone has the resources to make their dream of becoming a pharmacist a reality. So I give annually to help offset the costs our students have in pursuing their degrees.”

Becky Ceraul joined the School of Pharmacy as assistant dean for communications and marketing in 2008 after three years at the School of Medicine. She says the School of Pharmacy feels like family: “It’s large enough to have a significant impact in pharmacy education, scientific discovery, patient care, and community engagement, yet small enough that everyone feels like a family member.”

Part of that is because of the leadership of Dean Natalie D. Eddington, PhD, FAAPS, FCP. When Ceraul came to the School of Pharmacy, Dean Eddington’s vision and goals for the school inspired her to want to give all she could to help achieve those goals — through her time, talents, and resources. The groundbreaking work of the school’s faculty, staff, and students is transforming the future of patient care, with the role of the pharmacist on the health care team becoming more active and integral, and cutting-edge research continues to position the school at the forefront of discovery. It’s an exciting place to work — and an inspiring family to be part of.

Ceraul donates to the school on an annual basis for several reasons. “The School of Pharmacy has given me incredible opportunities to develop as a communications and marketing professional, so giving back to the school is one small way to show gratitude for those opportunities,” she says. “I also see the impact every day that donor support has on our students. It’s expensive to pursue a graduate degree, and not everyone has the resources to make their dream of becoming a pharmacist a reality. So I give annually to help offset the costs our students have in pursuing their degrees.”

Her example, celebrating — and advancing — the achievements of the school not only through her day-to-day work in the Office of Communications and Marketing but through her generous annual support serves as an inspiration for the School of Pharmacy community and the University as a whole.
