  • Page titles are diplayed as a Heading 2. All internal pages must have a page title.
  • Content type titles are displayed as a Heading 3.
  • Because Heading 2 and Heading 3 are used for page titles and content type titles, you should only use Heading 4 and Heading 5 within your body copy.

umb type styles

You will find various formatting options in the Style and Format dropdown menus in the text editor while adding content to any content type. Please use only the styles with a "UMB" prefix.

  

Create Visual Hierarchy with Type Styles and Formatting.

This is the umb_lead style. All pages should contain a brief introductory statement styled with umb_lead. Arranging text in various sizes provides visual interest and facilitates scanning.

First subheading (h4)

Subsequent paragraphs will take on the standard body style. Sometimes content will simply continue, and sometimes you will require a subhead. Subheadings should be formatted with Heading 4 and Heading 5.

Second, nested subheading (h5)

Paragraph associated with second subheading. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Mauris aliquet ante vel auctor eleifend. Pellentesque a turpis non sem porta adipiscing nec in est.

Column 1 Title

Any of the avilable two column, three column, and four column content types can be nested within your type hierarchy. Column titles are optional, and headers 4 and 5 may be used within each column.

The umb_light style is available for use below a larger chunk of content, to reference another area of the site, to provide attribution, etc. It should be reserved for asides and single sentences.

Arrange your content with larger styles at the top and smaller styles at the bottom. Page titles, lead text, and content type titles are at the top of the visual hierarchy and serve as reference points throughout your content. They should be used sparingly and consistently. These type styles reinforce the  "Inverted Pyramid" style of writing recommended for landing pages.
 

The UMB_pillbutton style will give anchor links a shaded background and a hover state. They are best used at the end of a section of content and should not be used mid-paragraph or sentence.
