Mei Xu, a Chinese American entrepreneur, is the founder and CEO of two global companies, Yes She May and Chesapeake Bay Candle, and author of Burn, which details her journey from China to starting and growing a multimillion-dollar business in the U.S.
Xu successfully negotiated the sale of Chesapeake Bay Candle to Newell Brands in 2017, a conglomerate with a $14 billion portfolio of consumer goods. Her business achievements have repeatedly been recognized by prominent organizations such as the 2021 Forbes’ “50 Outstanding Women Over 50 with Vision” Award, the 2021 Forbes China’s “60 Most Outstanding Chinese in North America” Award, Politico’s “2019 Woman of Impact” Award, and Inc. Xu launched Yes She May in June 2020 during the peak of the pandemic with a mission to power the growth of women entrepreneurs from around the world. Yes She May is an e-commerce business that aims to provide a modern woman with fashion and style that she deserves. The company partners with independent, women-led brands that offer thoughtfully designed and luxury quality fashion and giftable items. The mission is to introduce women consumers to women fashion designers from around the world and power the growth of women-owned businesses. Her team aims to cultivate a community of female entrepreneurs and consumers to create a new dynamic force in the global consumer market.
