Policies and Procedures

The Office of Institutional Policy Management is responsible for ensuring that university-wide policies and procedures are developed and maintained in a manner that is efficient, consistent, and transparent. The office facilitates and supports the development, review, approval, and dissemination of policies by providing standardized templates, overseeing routing and records management, and monitoring applicable internal and external requirements related to new or revised policies. Although the office does not draft or enforce policies, it provides institutional oversight, guidance, and best practices for University policy and procedure initiatives. In accordance with UMB’s Policy on Policy Review, the office endeavors to review existing policies on a five-year review cycle.

All policy and procedure proposals must be submitted through the UMB Policy Administration Application (also known as the Policy App) for review and processing by the UMB Office of Institutional Policy Management.

Revised Policy- UMB Policy on Academic Advising

This was an older policy that is being revised to ensure that it aligns with the USM 74.0 III-2.50-POLICY ON ACADEMIC ADVISING

New Policy- UMB Hazing Policy 

This high priority policy was created in accordance with the requirements of the federal statute, the Stop Campus Hazing Act.

New Policy- UMB Artificial Intelligence Guidelines 

These are the accompanying guidelines/procedures for the AI Governance Policy.
