The Office of Institutional Policy Management is responsible for ensuring that university-wide policies and procedures are developed and maintained in a manner that is efficient, consistent, and transparent. The office facilitates and supports the development, review, approval, and dissemination of policies by providing standardized templates, overseeing routing and records management, and monitoring applicable internal and external requirements related to new or revised policies. Although the office does not draft or enforce policies, it provides institutional oversight, guidance, and best practices for University policy and procedure initiatives. In accordance with UMB’s Policy on Policy Review, the office endeavors to review existing policies on a five-year review cycle.

All policy and procedure proposals must be submitted through the UMB Policy Administration Application (also known as the Policy App) for review and processing by the UMB Office of Institutional Policy Management.

03/10/2026- Revised Policy- UMB Policy and Procedures Concerning Research Misconduct
The Office of Research Integrity (ORI) DHHS released revisions to 42 CFR 93 that must be implemented at the institutional level by Jan 1, 2026.
02/12/2026- Technical Edit- Comply with Financial Conflict of Interest Policy (PHS)
Conflict of Interest dept launched a new online disclosure submission system, we no longer accept SFI disclosure forms.
02/02/2026- Technical Edit- Policy on Identifying and Addressing Institutional Conflicts of Interest to Preserve Integrity of Research and Other Academic Activity
Added a due date for Senior Officials annual reports. Senior Officials must complete and submit to the COI Officer an annual ICOI disclosure form, by May 15th each calendar year in which all Significant External Relationships must be reported.
