What We Do

At the University of Maryland in Baltimore (UM), the State’s only public academic health, human services, and law center, outreach to the community is as much a part of the University’s heritage and is Davidge Hall, the first building of what was to become the University System of Maryland. UM students, faculty, and staff provide more than 2 million hours of service annually to residents in communities surrounding the campus and throughout the state.

The campus through the UM Outreach Council, partners with local schools to provide improved outcomes for students and families in local community schools. Each UM school provides its own complement of invaluable outreach services in communities across the state and beyond.
