Total Fall 2014 FTES enrollment is 6,244, an increase of 0.2% from Fall 2013.  The Graduate School, Social Work, Nursing, and Pharmacy increased in FTES enrollment from Fall 2013 to Fall 2014, while Law, Medicine, and Dentistry decreased in FTES enrollment.  Over a five-year period, the total FTES enrollment at UMB has increased by 2.2%.

Table 2

Headcount Change by Degree

The decline in enrollment for Fall 2014 is largely attributable to decreases in the Nursing MS (173), Law Day JD (79), Law Evening JD (37), Public Health MPH (18), Medicine MD (16), Medicine PhD (13), and Dental Hygiene BS (9) programs.  The Doctor of Nursing Practice program showed the largest gain in enrollment between 2013 and 2014, with an increase of 104 students (117%).  Enrollment in the Social Work MS program increased by 62 from 2013 to 2014, and the Nursing BSN program increased enrollment by 60.  The new Health Science MS program included 39 students enrolled during the first fall of the program's existence.  Another new program, the Regulatory Science MS, helped the aggregate Pharmacy MS program enrollment increase by 63, helping to further offset the losses in enrollment by other programs.

Table 3

Projected vs. Actual Headcount by Degree

Fall 2014 enrollment total is 1.5% greater than projected. While many programs are close to the projections, some have significant deviations. The Nursing Practice DNP, Nursing BSN, Pharmacy MS, and Social Work MSW programs enrolled the most number of students over their projected enrollments. Nursing MS, Public Health MPH, Medicine PhD, Law Day JD, and Law Evening JD have the largest disparity among the programs that failed to reach their projected enrollment.
