In June 2013, the Faculty Senate ratified an Academic Freedom Resolution to protect academic freedoms at UMB, including:

1. Freedom of research and publication
2. Freedom to determine standards
3. Freedom of teaching
4. Freedom of internal criticism
5. Freedom of participation in public debate
