The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is retiring its Google system for student & alumni email.  Since 2018, UMB students receive a Microsoft 365 account for student email.

The automatic move of targeted UMB Google email addresses to UMB Microsoft 365 is complete.  Please first visit the UMB account management website to activate your UMB Microsoft 365 account.  Once activated, access your email by logging in to https://portal.office.com with your UMB alumni or student email address & password, click Apps on the left, and select Outlook.

Automatic forwarding of email in the UMB Google environment was disabled on June 17, 2025 to enhance the security of UMB email accounts. Access to UMB Google will be disabled the week of June 30, 2025. Please download any data you wish to keep by this date.

Access Your GoogleApps@UMaryland

Download Your UMB Google Data

Please download your UMB Google account data by Monday, June 16, 2025.  After this date, all UMB Google accounts will be disabled and inaccessible.  Please visit the Downloading Your UMB Google Data website for instructions on downloading your data.

Timeline

• Email notification on all UMB Google accounts began Wednesday, April 16, 2025
• Automatic forwarding of email was disabled on Tuesday, June 17, 2025
• All UMB Google email addresses for enrolled students and actively used alumni email addresses have been moved to Microsoft 365.
• Access to UMB Google for all accounts will be disabled on Monday, June 30, 2025.

Third-Party Website Login

If you used your UMB Google account as a login to another website, this will no longer work after all UMB Google accounts are disabled.  Please update your login with those websites beforehand.  Any websites automatically prompting you to log in using Google and listing your UMB Google account as an option may be impacted.

If you used your UMB Google email address to sign up for an account or service with a third-party company, you either need to update your email address with that company to a personal email address or ensure you take action to retain access to your UMB student/alumni email address. Failure to do so may result in you losing access to that company’s services or losing your account’s history with the company, such as purchase or support history.
