It's been a busy summer for art at UMB. Although the University doesn't actually offer art classes or art degrees, one of the goals of 1807: An Art & Literary Journal is to recognize the correlation between the arts and science. The annual journal showcases the talents of our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the broader UMB community and neighbors.

As the second issue of 1807 was rolling off the presses this summer, an exciting unveiling was taking place in the Pearl Street underpass on the north end of UMB's campus. About 30 pieces of art were selected from the inaugural spring 2019 issue of 1807 to adorn the new exterior display: A turtle swimming in the sea, three iconic Baltimore scenes, an anglerfish made of metal, and a poem about living with mental illness are just some of the 28 artists' works exhibited in the new outdoor gallery space.
