Title: The Excellence in School Health InitiativeDescription: One of the key focuses of the Excellence in School Mental Health Initiative has been to help reduce barriers to learning for students in two Baltimore City Public K-8 schools (Patapsco Elementary/Middle and Bay Brook Elementary/Middle). Many of the students served at these schools have been exposed to trauma, have undiagnosed disorders, and are having difficulty learning. Our program has addressed these issues on a wide continuum using the public health triangle, from involving stakeholders and improving overall school climate, to universal prevention with Paths to Pax, secondary prevention strategies with classrooms and in group format, to individual therapy.
