Baltimore Region Community Programs

Title: A Bridge to Academic Excellence
Description: A Bridge to Academic Excellence is a collaborative community service project of the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Pharmacy, formed for the purpose of improving educational outcomes, professional and social communities in the area. ABAE provides academic support to the future generation of professionals and unites professional school organizations and area middle and high school students through tutoring and mentoring. The program was created and developed by a student at the School of Pharmacy.

ABAE targets those middle and high school students who wish to pursue professional careers, including STEM2 careers, but may have difficulty in their math, science or English classes. The program currently involves over 145 middle and high schools in the Baltimore City and the Baltimore/Washington metro area and over 150 pharmacy, dental, law, medical, nursing, social work and physical therapy students.
