Baltimore Region Community Programs
Title: YouthworksDescription: The University of Maryland has participated in Baltimore City's Youthworks Summer Employment Program for more than a decade. The program, sponsored in conjunction with Baltimore City's Office of Employment Development, provides high school students with opportunities to gain meaningful work experiences, explore career choices and receive mentoring from University employees in various professions.
Mentors are recruited and matched with students based upon areas of common interest. Weekly activities are planned for students and mentors throughout the summer in order to give the students additional opportunities to explore the various career and educational options available at the campus.
