Understanding the Mailing Lists

Types of Lists

There are two types of mailing lists: those based on interest and those based on your role within the University.

In order to give faculty, staff, students, and affiliates control over which "interest-related" communications they receive, interest lists were created for certain types of communications, such as those related to sustainability. Role lists are based on the classification of a person within the University. If a person is an affiliate of the University, they are on the affiliate list. If a person is a staff member, they are on the staff list. Role lists are used for information targeted to a specific segment of the University and is not based on subject matter.
