The University of Maryland again ranks among the top 10 research institutions in the National Science Foundation’s Higher Education Research and Development Survey, placing 10th among public institutions in research and development spending and 16th overall nationally for Fiscal Year 2020. The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) and the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) are linked as one research enterprise and have partnered to create more than 20 academic collaborations, a successful joint tech transfer and commercialization office, and 25 programs and centers. The partnership, the University of Maryland Strategic Partnership: MPowering the State, recently appointed eight MPower Professors to strengthen faculty collaboration between UMB and UMCP.
