Anchor Links Now Auto-Scroll Sitewide
December 08, 2017
Anchor links are useful for linking between two points on the same page.
Normally, anchor links instantly jump to their target on the page. We’ve implemented a site-wide script that allows anchor links on the same page to smoothly scroll to their target instead of instantly jumping to it. This makes it easier for visitors to remain oriented on the page, and it looks nicer too.
Web content managers are encouraged to try out this new feature. It’s great for adding a table of contents to the top of a very tall page, allowing visitors to auto-scroll directly to the content they wish to read. If you need a refresher on how to set up anchor links, you’re welcome to stop by during our office hours.
