Hundreds of Students Attend the 2010 Fall Fest Celebration
Several hundred students from the University of Maryland campus in Baltimore turned out for the annual Fall Fest orientation and celebration held outside the Southern Management Corporation Campus Center and the School of Nursing.
The weather turned bright and sunny and students enjoyed a free picnic organized by the Office of Student Services.
According to Cyndi Rice, director of student services, between a thousand and 1200 students, faculty, and employees were expected for the event.
"By 11:30 a.m.," she said, "more than 700 had already gone through the line."
The festivities included 100 "resource tables" representing on-campus services and offices, student groups, and some off-campus vendors.
In addition to the food, students were treated to free music, hula hoop demonstrations and classes, portrait artists, games, and a nonstop bubble-making machine. The Oriole Bird also was in attendance.
