School of Social Work's Stephens Named One of 25 Black Marylanders to Watch

Stacey Stephens, LCSW-C, director, B’more for Healthy Babies and early learning programming at Promise Heights, University of Maryland School of Social Work (UMSSW), was listed as one of 25 Black Marylanders to Watch for 2023 by The Baltimore Sun. Stephens, a second-generation social worker who grew up watching her parents develop deep relationships with their patients, always knew she would devote her life to health care. B’more for Healthy Babies is an initiative meant to combat the infant mortality rate in Baltimore under the Promise Heights initiative at UMSSW. Stephens has often said that the “the goal of the program is to ensure that every baby born in Baltimore is healthy and able to live in a thriving family.”
