Reece to Step Down as School of Medicine Dean in 2022

UMB President Bruce E. Jarrell announced in March that E. Albert Reece, MD, PhD, MBA, dean of the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) and UMB’s executive vice president for medical affairs, will step down as dean at the end of the academic year in 2022. Among many accomplishments during Dr. Reece’s 15-year tenure, research funding at UMSOM increased from $300 million to more than half a billion dollars. Dr. Reece will return to the medical school faculty at the end of his deanship.
