Emily Hurst, MSLS, Named Dean of HSHSL and Associate Vice Provost

Emily Hurst, who has over 15 years of experience working for health sciences libraries, joined the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) on Feb. 1 as dean of the Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HSHSL) and associate vice provost. She most recently served as deputy director at Virginia Commonwealth University Libraries, Health Sciences Library. Hurst’s background includes technology coordination for the Network of the National Library of Medicine and active roles in professional associations like the Medical Library Association (MLA). As an elected member of the MLA Board of Directors, she has been recognized for her achievements, including winning the Estelle Brodman Award as the Academic Health Sciences Librarian of the Year.
