Book Fair RSVP & Survey

The UMB Writing Center is hosting an in-person and virtual book and resources fair for students, staff, and faculty at the Writing Center and the Seven Scholars bookstore. Our book fair will display curated titles on writing and communication, including science communication and writing related to human services disciplines, that continue to inform our equity-based and social-justice focused consultation practice in the Writing Center.

As part of our kick-off, we are gathering student, staff, post-doctoral fellow, and faculty impressions about their processes for writing and about writing support and resources. Your responses will help us revise current services and develop new ones to meet your expressed needs and expectations as writers at UMB.

The survey is anonymous, so you won't recieve an email confirmation. For the location/Zoom link for the book fair, please click here. Thank you!

We are offering titles of reference texts and writing-related guides, the prices for which frequently compete with income devoted to necessities like housing, clothing, and food. The situation is made even more serious by effects from the ongoing pandemic, climate catastrophes, global inflation, and UMB tuition and fees. In the United States, prices for necessary texts for your education should not compound expenses for basic living in such difficult times.

While our budget constrains how many of these texts we can purchase and offer, we want to do our best to support students navigating these challenges. Please consider filling out this separate form for a chance to be selected to receive a text without cost to you. To make this request, we ask only that you complete the form and attend—virtually or in person—our book fair on September 15.
