Become a Wellness Fellow!

The Wellness Fellows will assist with health promotion and campaigns for the UMB community. Fellows must be self-starters and proactive workers looking to develop stress-management skills for their personal and professional lives.

Wellness Fellows are students representing the different schools of the University. They coordinate activities among student groups and various offices of UMB and most importantly plan and deliver programs focused on wellness and academic-life balance. Fellows learn how to effectively deliver interdisciplinary health promotion programs and evaluate the outcomes of their work.

Positions Currently Hiring for Virtual Programs

Wellness Fellows' Duties

The Wellness Fellows will assist with daily operations, communications, and support for the Wellness Hub within Campus Life Services. The Fellows will report directly to the Senior Assistant Director of the Wellness Hub.  Fellows must be self-starters and pro-active workers to be compatible with this position.

Job Description

  • Conduct research and benchmarking to maintain a relevant and time sensitive wellness website
  • Develop the framework of virtual tours for lactation and relaxation space
  • Assist with marketing including but not limited to website updates, social media and document development
  • Assist with coordinating online activities, workshops and events around health and wellbeing
  • Assist with any technical issues participants may be experiencing during the setup and delivery of virtual special events, programs and services
  • Prepare reports on utilization of online and virtual Wellness Hub programs and services
  • Report all injuries or problems and advise participants to seek medical care when appropriate
  • Maintain and monitor for compliance of all rules, policies and regulations surrounding services and programs
  • Respond politely and promptly to customer inquiries and complaints
  • Complete all assignments required during shifts
  • Attend all in service trainings and meetings
  • Perform scheduled inventory audits

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to use own personal computer for accessing on-line platforms such as Zoom, Webex, Office 365, Google Meet, etc.
  • Ability to use own personal computer to access the internet to conduct research for programming and update website and calendars.
  • Ability to apply basic analytical skills; to operate manual and automated office equipment, personal computers and spreadsheet software to input data; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to prepare and present working papers and supporting documentation
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • First Aid, CPR, AED certification or willingness to obtain

Pay Rate

  • $15.00 to $16.00 per hour

Wellness Instructors' Duties

The Wellness Instructor will assist with planning, coordinating, and overseeing of health promotion programs for the Wellness Hub within Campus Life Services. The Instructors will report directly to the Health Educator of the Wellness Hub.  Fellows must be self-starters and pro-active workers to be compatible with this position.

Job Description

  • Plan and coordinate safe and effective online and virtual programs and events around health and wellbeing
  • Provide online and virtual peer education to student organizations and other UMB groups
  • Administer a variety of online and virtual professional and administrative activities that support and promote health and wellness
  • Work collaboratively with other areas in the division
  • Effectively communicate and provide feedback to online and virtual wellness program participants
  • Evaluate virtual and online programs and components through participant feedback
  • Complete and maintain accurate and timely participant program records
  • Determine any risk associated with online and virtual programs and implement strategies to reduce risk
  • Report all injuries or problems and advise participants to seek medical care when appropriate
  • Maintain and monitor for compliance of all rules, policies and regulations surrounding virtual and online services and programs
  • Respond politely and promptly to customer inquiries and complaints
  • Assist in research on campus online and virtual health initiatives and relevant topics in the field
  • Maintains clean and safe online and virtual program resources
  • Attend all in service trainings and meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to use own personal computer for accessing on-line platforms such as Zoom, Webex, Office 365, Google Meet, etc.
  • Ability to use own personal computer to access the internet to conduct research for programming and update website and calendars.
  • Minimum of one semester peer educator experience or equivalent or peer educator certificate
  • Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm
  • Knowledge of safe health and wellness program design and principles
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • First Aid, CPR, AED certification or willingness to obtain

Pay Rate

  • $15.00 to $16.00 per hour
