About Us

  • In 2017, UMB students celebrated World Kindness Day by decorating a cookie for UMB security, local police officers and firefighters. Other opportunities included stuffing teddy bears for local children's hospitals, making PB&J sandwiches for the homeless, and showing gratitude for UMB faculty and staff.

  • Hands-On Healing Sessions

In the Spring 2018, The Wellness Hub supported a student-led project, Hands-On Healing, offering 20-minute sessions for students combining healing touch, aromatherapy, meditation and simple breath techniques for stress reduction. Students were completely booked throughout the semester.

  • Healing Arts

UMB Students and faculty/staff were offered two opportunities for using art as an opportunity for personal and professional growth.

  • Wellness at SOP

School of Pharmacy students celebrated wellness with aromatherapy, pet therapy, and healthy eating to their school during finals.

  • Puppy Love 2018

Students take advantage of this unique opportunity to interact with animals and reduce stress. Fidos for Freedom brings its furry friends to the SMC Campus Center for all to enjoy every semester during finals.

The UMB Wellness and Academic-Life Balance Program exists to affirm the role of wellness in advancing students' growth and development to ensure that they flourish academically, professionally, and personally.

The Wellness Hub supports University of Maryland students in pursuing self-awareness, professional and personal development, and academic-life balance through a variety of interdisciplinary workshops and lectures at the SMC Campus Center. Our mission is to assist students in achieving a state of academic-life balance within the dimensions of physical, emotional, social, cultural, ethical, intellectual, environmental, and financial wellness. Since 2010, the Wellness Hub has supported more than 150 programs and several one-on-one services for the UMB student community, especially by tailoring our programs and services to meet the unique needs of graduate and professional students.
