This year we are teaming up with National Public Health Week to provide a wide array of programs. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to engage in health and wellness activities and learn life balance strategies for healthier lifestyle choices. Join us for free health and wellness screenings, giveaways and free self-guided massages!

Self-Guided Meditation and Massage

Join Linda Penkala for guided breathing exercises and massage. Linda is a Licensed Massage Therapist, an accomplished author and wellness catalyst in Baltimore. The program will lead you through stress-relieving breathing exercises and massage techniques to relieve tired and achy hands, necks, and shoulders.

Beginner Yoga  

Tuesday, April 6  

1:15 – 1:45 p.m.  

Join Marissa Walch, URecFIt Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor for this class that focuses on learning the fundamentals of yoga including breath, transitions, and yoga postures with special attention to alignment. It’s a great class for students new-to-yoga or advanced practitioners looking to fine-tune their practice.

Mindfulness Bingo  

Tuesday, April 6  

4 – 5 p.m.  

Join Cassie Moon from the Student Counseling Center in this free virtual bingo event. Students will have the opportunity to win prizes, learn about counseling services, and learn coping mechanisms to manage stress and anxiety. Virtual bingo will be fun and exciting for all who attend. National Public Health Week / Wellness Fair event, open to UMB part-time and full-time students ONLY.

Couch to 5k Program  

Tuesday, April 6  

5:30-6:15 p.m.  

Want to learn more about UMB’s social running club and running programs? We are excited to present our newest running programs and our newest social running group! The program and presentation will be led by Emily Garguilo, URecFit employee and Physical Therapy student. Accountability and a community that will help you meet your newest running goals! The running programs include check-ins and guidance during the first 3 weeks and the training calendars are events in the Baltimore Running Festival in October which can be run in-person or virtually!

Family Feud: Water Safety

Join us for a game of Family Feud hosted by UMB Students for Water Safety, where you can test yourself on water facts and get a chance to win a prize!   

Our UMB Students for Water Safety team aims to spread water safety awareness to our community through educational resources and workshops on how you can take part in preventing the occurrence of drowning, which is the leading cause of death among young children. Youth Fitness Class

2-2:30 p.m.  

Jasmine Jacobs, URecFit Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist, will be leading a 30 minute youth fitness class that will build strength, endurance, body awareness and motor skills. All youth are welcome!

Functional Warm Ups

With the weather changing, more of us are getting the natural energy boost that comes with the sunnier seasons. There’s nothing worse than hitting the ground running in a new fitness routine and being bogged down three or four days in with stiffness and soreness. Often, we get so excited about starting, we forget to ease in and warm our body up. Join Tessa Shifflett, URecFit Personal Trainer and Physical Therapy student, in learning about the importance of warmups, functional strategies, and how to optimize your workouts!
