Reopening Guidelines

Update - 8/13/21 - Phase 3 Reopening begins Monday, August 16

URecFit and Wellness will move into Phase 3 reopening on Monday, August 16.  Operating hours will be Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.  The pool will reopen on the 16th with limited hours and require reservations.  Lanes can be reserved using our URecFit Live Portal or the URecFit Live app.  Per UMB's August 5 email communication, UMB’s Policy Requiring Use of Face Coverings has been reinstated. UMB requires all people, regardless of vaccination status, to wear masks in public indoor settings. This includes URecFit & Wellness.  Exceptions are while in the pool swimming and while showering in a shower stall.  During Phase 3, all members, except sponsored members and guests, may access the facility.  All members must self-scan their OneCard or membership ID at the 4th floor check in desk.  Members must either restart their membership (membership will be extended for the number of days lost due to the COVID-19 closure) or purchase a membership at the business office.  Memberships will not be prorated (ex., modified hours, reduced amenities, etc.).

Towel service (shower and fitness) will start back on the 16th

1 on 1, 2 on 2 and 3 on 3 basketball is allowed

Update - 8/5/21 - UMB's Face Covering Policy Reinstated

Effective Friday, August 6 per UMB's August 5 email communicationUMB’s Policy Requiring Use of Face Coverings is being reinstated. UMB will require that all people, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks in public indoor settings. This includes URecFit & Wellness.

Update - 7/26/21 - Closed August 9 - 13 to move equipment

We have exciting news! We will be closed the week of August 9 through 13 to set the facility back to pre-COVID configuration. Many patrons have asked when things would be going back to "normal" and we are almost there. The closing of the facility will allow us to get the spaces prepared to return to as "normal" of operations as we can at this point.

Update - 6/29/21 - Phase 2 Reopening begins Tuesday, July 6

URecFit & Wellness will move into Phase 2 of COVID-19 reopening on Tuesday, July 6.  During Phase 2, all members, except sponsored members and guests, may access the facility.  We will offer weekday, Monday through Friday, hours 8AM to 7:30PM.  The pool will remain closed.  No reservations are required but all members must self scan their OneCard or membership ID at the 4th floor check in desk.  Members must either restart their membership (membership will be extended for the number of days lost due to the COVID-19 closure) or purchase a membership at the business office.  Memberships will not be prorated (ex., modified hours, reduced amenities, etc.).  Total capacity of the facility is limited to 150.

Per the June 17 communicationUMB’s Policy Requiring Use of Face Coverings will no longer require fully vaccinated people to wear face coverings and/or practice physical distancing while on UMB’s campus. Students, faculty, and staff who are not fully vaccinated, even if they have received a medical or religious exemption from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, must continue to wear a mask in accordance with the policy. Fully vaccinated is defined as two weeks after a final vaccine dose. Unvaccinated students, faculty, and staff must practice physical distancing whenever they remove their face covering.

Certain activities will still be prohibited (ex. 1-on-1 basketball (or more players), team sports, racquetball or squash).

Update - 6/14/21

Spotting by members is allowed.  URecFit and Wellness staff may decline spotting if they are uncomfortable.  Please modify your intensity

All daily lockers are now available.  You must bring your own lock.  Please practice physical distancing.

Update - 5/28/21

Since communicating the URecFit and Wellness plan for the phased return to campus beginning June 1, a few questions and concerns have been asked regarding hours of operation, facility guidelines and available areas.  The reopening plan was approved by UMB’s Crisis Management Advisory Group (CMAG). CMAG’s approval came with the requirement to be in “lockstep” with UMB’s health and safety guidelines.  UMB health and safety leaders were consulted throughout our planning for reopening.  The processes and guidelines align with their guidance. We have a plan for expanding operations based on multiple factors, which includes the hiring of additional staff, over the upcoming weeks and months. On May 7, we received approval to hire part-time staff.  As we continue to hire, train, and certify staff, the hours and service offerings will be expanded.  We will be meeting with UMB health and safety leaders every two weeks to assess the current conditions and to consider adjustments to the phased return plan.  Please know we are working hard to get the facility back to as close to pre-COVID operations as quickly as we can.

Update - 5/24/21 - Phase 1 Reopening begins Tuesday, June 1

URecFit and Wellness reopened on Tuesday, June 1. During this first phase, we are only open for current UMB students and UMB graduates from December 2019 through May 2021. Graduates must submit a form if they wish to activate their free alumni membership. Exercise areas will be open but the pool will be closed.

If COVID-19 metrics continue to improve and capacity allows, we anticipate reopening to other eligible members July 1. We look forward to welcoming you back. Over the past several months, our team has established a comprehensive reopening strategy following the guidelines set forth in the UMB Recovery Framework to ensure a safe return to campus. This plan builds upon URecFit and Wellness' high standards of health, safety, and cleanliness and takes them to the highest level. We encourage members and students to read through the following guidelines to uphold this high standard.
