Presidential Search Process

On May 12, 2020, University System of Maryland (USM) Chancellor Jay A. Perman, MD, announced that the USM Board of Regents had approved a University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Presidential Search Committee and process.

The Presidential Search Committee will guide the first stage of the search, and Isaacson, Miller — one of the nation’s most respected executive search firms — will provide consulting services. The firm will consult with the UMB community and other stakeholders to determine the experience, skills, and attributes UMB needs in its president, develop a leadership profile based on that feedback, and identify top candidates across the country whose abilities and qualities best serve the University.

UMB town halls — held virtually until social distancing restrictions ease — will help Isaacson, Miller narrow its search. The search committee will evaluate the candidates and forward a recommendation to Dr. Perman and the Board of Regents.
