The UMB Police Department is currently undergoing CALEA Accreditation to ensure faculty, staff, students, and visitors to campus receive the best services possible.
Events and Programs
The UMB Police Department is involved in the community. Our officers and staff organize and participate in local and national events on campus and with our Baltimore City neighbors.
The UMB Police Department enjoys participating in “bike rodeos” at local elementary schools to demonstrate safe riding skills. We want children in our Baltimore communities to see police officers as teachers and safety advocates.
DEA National Take-Back Initiative
Let’s help keep drugs out of the hands of criminals and the reach of small children. Scheduled through the Drug Enforcement Administration, the UMB Police Department works with the School of Pharmacy to collect expired/unused prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs. Please click here for disposal options.
Polar Bear Plunge
Each year, our officers, along with officers from throughout the state, support the Maryland Special Olympics by participating in the Polar Bear Plunge by jumping into the frigid waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
Toys for Tots
Along with law enforcement agencies throughout the state, we visit neighborhoods and children in need to distribute toys.
UMB Police Department officers volunteer as medal presenters to Special Olympians at the Maryland Special Olympics at Towson University.
National Night Out
During National Night Out, we encourage the University community and our Baltimore City neighbors to “take back the night” by coming to campus to learn about safety awareness and crime prevention.
National Police Week
UMB Police Department officers honor our fallen brothers and sisters during National Police Week at events held in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.
