Results From the 2021 Maryland Charity Campaign

President Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACSI am pleased to share with you the final results of the Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC), Maryland’s workplace charitable giving program, which took place this past October through Dec. 31, 2021.

The MCC theme in 2021 was MD Gives, Inspires Hope, and the results show how this theme resonated with many generous donors. State employees and retirees raised over $2 million. Of that, UMB raised more than $142,000 from our talented faculty, staff, and retirees.

For the third year in a row, our UMB community met the fundraising goal set for us by the Office of the Secretary of State. We are among only six University System of Maryland institutions that reached their goal in 2021. I extend my sincere appreciation to all who gave to the causes they care about. A substantial number of nonprofits in our area and beyond will benefit from these philanthropic contributions.

Lastly, I'd like to thank our campus MCC liaisons, Lisa Vuolo, executive director of annual and leadership giving in the Office of Philanthropy, and Bill Crockett, MS, RCRSP, executive director of Campus Life Services, for their continued leadership and support of this annual statewide campaign. Their combined efforts were imperative to our continued success.

Thank you for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Signature of Bruce E. Jarrell
