What is the Role of the President's Fellows?

The president's fellows will explore the strategies and steps UMB should adopt to institutionalize its organizational culture and core values so they remain durable, even as the university continues to evolve. This year's President's Fellows will focus on the following:

  • Conducting an organizational scan of existing core values initiatives
  • Evaluating the relevancy and effectiveness of existing initiatives
  • Developing specific and actionable strategies for institutionalizing core values
  • Authoring a white paper with recommendations and next steps
  • Presenting recommendations to the university community

UMB's core values are accountability, civility, collaboration, diversity, excellence, knowledge, and leadership.

Qualifications

To be considered as a President's Fellow, a student must:

  • Be enrolled full-time at University of Maryland, Baltimore during the 2019-2020 academic year
  • Complete and submit the application by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, August 7th
  • Have an interest in examining the 2019-2020 topic — Core Values
  • Be willing to dedicate two to 10 hours a week to the president's fellowship
