What is the role of the President's Fellows?

The President's Fellows will conduct an environmental scan; research best practices; issue and analyze a student survey on global literacy; author a white paper; and present recommendations to the University community. This year's President's Fellows will focus on the following:

  • Examine UMB’s role as an anchor institution in addressing gun violence through education, research, clinical care, and service
  • Explore the root causes of gun violence
  • Use an interdisciplinary lens to examine the impact of trauma on communities

To be considered as a President's Fellow, a student must: 

  • Be enrolled full-time at University of Maryland, Baltimore during the 2018-2019 academic year
  • Complete and submit the application by the deadline
  • Have an interest in examining the 2018-2019 topic — gun violence
  • Be willing to dedicate two to 10 hours a week to the President's Fellowship
