Past Core Values Award Winners

To celebrate and promote UMB's core values, the University launched the Presidential Core Values Awards in 2020, designed to recognize students, faculty, and staff who embody the values at the heart of UMB’s mission.

UMB's original set of core values — Accountability, Civility, Collaboration, Diversity, Excellence, Knowledge, and Leadership — represented each of our seven schools and emerged out of the 2011-2106 Strategic Planning process. For 10 years, these values guided UMB’s academic programs, operating philosophy, and commitment to our constituents, while supporting our dedication to global enhancement and social progress.

UMB’s core values were updated for the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, as the University sought to evolve and revitalize the values that are at the heart of our mission to improve the human condition and serve the public good of Maryland and society at-large.
