Mike Vesely PortraitMike Vesely, JD, is the academic program director at the University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security (CHHS), part of the Carey School of Law.

Since joining CHHS in 2007, Vesely has worked on crisis management planning and training for state, federal, and international organizations. He also has developed and teaches courses at Maryland Carey Law in the law and policy of emergency management and counterterrorism. His academic and client work focus on preparedness, response, and recovery from natural disasters, public health crises, and terrorism. Vesely recently led a delegation of University of Maryland, Baltimore students to Costa Rica to study the country’s response to the Zika outbreak.
