Payroll Training

All UMB and Affiliate personnel who need eUMB HRMS basic access are required to take the Introduction to eUMB HRMS training.  Users who request Commitment Accounting and/or Departmental Payroll Processing access, you are required to take additional course(s).  All three courses are available online in the UMB Learning Management System (LMS).  Please see below all payroll related training courses and descriptions. 


 

Course Name: Introduction to eUMB HRMS

Course Description: This self-paced, online course provides an overview of the eUMB HRMS. This includes accessing eUMB HRMS, conducting a search, navigating a page, various eUMB components and ways to access employee data using reports and/or queries.

This course is REQUIRED TRAINING for anyone who will hold any role in eUMB HRMS.  You will need to complete this course before registering Departmental Payroll Processing (DPP) or Commitment Accounting (CA) courses. 

How Do I Take Introduction to the eUMB HRMS Online?
The Introduction to eUMB HRMS online course is available through the LMS. To navigate to the curriculum:

From the UMB Homepage:

  • Click About UMB
  • Click Human Resource Services
  • Click Learning Management System and sign in using your UMID and password
  • Go to the Library and under UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, BALTIMORE, locate and register for Introduction to eUMB HRMS
  • Complete the Introduction to the eUMB HRMS course in the LMS
    • Read the Guidelines for Completing the Introduction to eUMB HRMS curriculum
    • Download the Job Aid

This course includes 4 chapters:

  • eUMB HRMS Components in Detail
  • Summaries, Queries and Reports
  • Updating Your Employee Campus Email Address

Once you have completed the tutorial, you are required to complete the Quick Assessment.

Course Name: Departmental Payroll Processing

Course Description:

This self-paced, online course provides an overview of payroll processing including viewing time reporter data, changing the default schedule, time reporting, correcting time reporting, approving payable time, viewing employee paycheck data, understanding payroll reports and reviewing other payroll topics. 

PREREQUISITES:

  1. Introduction to eUMB HRMS (self-paced online training available at the LMS)
  2. eUMB Electronic Timesheets (self-paced online training) 

Available through the myUMB Portal Page OR directly at http://cf.umaryland.edu/ondemandtraining/enterprise/PlayerPackage/data/toc.html 

This course is REQUIRED TRAINING for those who will fulfill departmental payroll processing ETS Approver role in eUMB HRMS

Course Name: Commitment Accounting

Course Description:

This self-paced, online course introduces the process of initiating, recycling, re-working and approving an Employee Funding Profile. 

PRE-REQUISITE: Introduction to eUMB HRMS (self-paced online training available at the LMS)

This course is REQUIRED TRAINING for those who will fulfill the Commitment Accounting (CA) Initiator, CA Reviewer and/or CA Approver roles in eUMB HRMS.
