Do Not Wear Gloves In Common Areas

EHS has received numerous complaints from the campus community concerning wearing gloves in common areas. Common area doors, elevators, rest room fixtures, etc. must not be handled by a gloved hand. Use the "one glove method" when samples need to be transported. Keep one hand gloved (holding the sample), while the other is used to open doors, punch elevator call buttons, etc. If both hands must be gloved in common areas, a second person who can remain ungloved should assist. This method will prevent the contamination of public areas and the risk of other persons coming in contact with unwanted chemical, biological or radiological hazards. Please be considerate of your fellow employees and the public.
