Below are a series of guidelines produced by UMB in consultation with physicians around returning to work as the COVID-19 pandemic lessens and ends. Select the option that best represents your situation for specific information relating to your return to work, or for those who fall under your supervision.

You have a fever, cough, or shortness of breath.


Can I come to work?

No, do not return to work for 72 hours after your fever goes away and your symptoms improve. This must be at least 7 days after your symptoms first appeared. You must not be taking medications to reduce fever or symptoms.


Do I or a caregiver need to watch for symptoms?

Yes, you or a caregiver should watch for worsening symptoms such as trouble breathing, pressure or pain in the chest, confusion or inability to wake, and bluish lips or face. If these symptoms develop seek emergency medical care.


Do I need to wear a facemask?

Yes, wear a facemask* until all symptoms resolve or for 14 days from when you started feeling sick, whichever is longer.

You have a history of seasonal allergies and sneezing, nasal congestion, sore throat, or cough. No fever.


Can I come to work?

No, do not return to work for at least 48 hours and only if your symptoms do not progress.


Do I or a caregiver need to watch for symptoms?

Yes, monitor yourself for worsening symptoms and signs of COVID-19, such as fever, cough or shortness of breath. After 48 hours, if your symptoms have not progressed you can return to work.


Do I need to wear a facemask?

Yes, wear a facemask* until all symptoms resolve or for 14 days from when you started feeling sick, whichever is longer.
