UM shuttle Suspended for Fall Semester

August 4, 2020

Dear UMB Community:

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Office of Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) appreciates the role the UM shuttle plays in transporting faculty, staff, and students to campus. However, the UM shuttle will not be operating during the fall semester.

While this was a hard choice to make, there are several contributing factors that influenced this decision:

    •    At this time, operating the UM shuttle is not deemed a healthy option due to COVID-19 concerns.
    •    It does not make financial sense to operate the shuttle due to projected low ridership.
    •    The state is discouraging the use of the MTA at this time, unless it is absolutely necessary.

PTS recognizes that transportation is vital to our University community. Therefore, we are looking into providing a discount for faculty, staff, and students using Lyft to and from campus from existing shuttle stops. However, at this time, no discount is available. Should a discount become an option, you will be updated immediately.

Sincerely,

Robert Milner, MS
